Reflection
Throughout this project, I feel like I am able to write more concisely, and more personally. I don’t like writing about myself, but with a college essay, there is no way around that. I learned that I can effectively write about my life, and that is definitely a skill that I will use in the future. For example, in the first draft of my essay, my first sentence was, “It is very hard for LGBTQ (Lesbain, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning) students to find support in rural areas, especially in school.” This sentence is very literal, and doesn't really say anything about who I am, or my experiences. My first sentence of my final draft was, “Middle school was terrifying, there was not one day that I felt safe.” This shows more insight into who I am, and what has shaped me into the person I am today. The topic I got the most feedback on, was being more personal in my essay. This feedback made my essay so much better, I was able to clearly understand what I needed to revise, and it pushed me to write in a way that I am not very comfortable with, which was a good challenge. The feedback I got from this project helped me grow not only as a writer, but as a person, and I am very grateful for that
