Video Project:
Project Description:
I started this project by figuring out what questions would be best to ask the people I interview; after that, I emailed various people, who I wanted to interview. Once I had all my interviews, I put the footage into Windows Movie Maker, and edited it once it was on the program.
I thought it was very helpful to have people critique my video, and the amount of class work time I was given. I really enjoyed this project, and was very happy with the amount of freedom we had to choose what we wanted our topic to be and how we wanted to go about it.

Project Reflection:
- Art is used to communicate with, educate and entertain people in everyday life. Art Communicates with people by telling things in way other than just words. Videos communicate through a combination of video, pictures, and speaking. Paintings communicate through the painters choice of colors and shapes to show something unique. Pictures show the world from the photographer’s point of view, they can tell people a lot just by what they choose to take a picture of, and how it’s taken. Art educates people by showing them something in a way that’s not just talking. Political cartoons play a huge role in how people educate through art. Art can also be just for entertainment. People create art for many different reasons, all of which are extremely important to have in the world we live in today.
- Artists produce preliminary plans so they can make the best possible piece they can. They create more than one draft, so they can see all the different ideas they have for a piece. This helps them choose exactly how they want to create their art. Having more than one draft with differences to them help the artist figure out what they want the final product to look like.
- While making art people have to be prepared to change their original idea, and be flexible about whether they have enough time to create what they had originally planned. If there is a time limit around when they piece of art needs to be done by, the artist needs to make sure that they can get their piece done on time. If that is not possible, then they need to change their original idea.
- People create art to express themselves in various ways. Art is used as a way to show the world the creativity and ideas of all the people in the world. The amazing thing about art is that it comes in infinite forms, and anyone anywhere can create it. Each piece of art is unique, and was created by someone who had the ability to create something beautiful.
Political Cartoon Project:
A visual response to Michele Bachmann's comment about same-sex marriage-
Project Reflection
I got my message across by showing what the person said, and showing why it is so ridiculous. This is a quote that always made me think about what people actually believe, it is hard to believe that someone could say something so ridiculous and think of it as fact. I wanted to show that not all people can be trusted with political information, people need to understand what people are actually saying. With my cartoon, not everybody will understand what I mean to say. People need an understanding of gay rights, and who Michele Bachmann is, one of the interesting things about political cartoons is that not everyone will understand them; most of these cartoons are geared toward a particular group of people which is what makes more interesting.
Information can be shared artistically by visually showing what you want to say. People use symbols to tell people things instead of using words. One of the great things about sharing information through art is that everybody will have a different take on what the artist is saying. Hopefully everyone will understand the main part of art, but different people will have different takes on what the deeper meaning is.
When someone is creating art there is a certain idea that the artist is trying to portray. When someone is viewing art they make their own assumptions about what the art is saying. Artist and the people viewing art can have completely different ideas of what the art means. Sometimes pieces of art are very clear, but a lot of the time art is open to interpretation. That is one of the amazing this about art, everybody sees it from a different view.

Pre Historic Art History Drawings:
This project started with the class watching a documentary about the domestication of the dog, and then we spent a day drawing wolves. After this introduction we listened to lectures about how art started and what art has been used for.
The resources I used to make my drawing better was looking at pictures of what I was drawing, and step by step drawing instructions for certain animals I was drawing. This was helpful because it specifically showed what I needed to do in a particular order.
The image trace tool didn’t impact my drawing very well because it was too light. If I had traced my drawing with black marker or pen, it would have traced much better and I think the different effects I could do would make the drawing better. It is unlikely that I could use this again because I don’t like to draw. If I did like to draw I could see myself using this tool to make my drawings look different.
Although I don’t enjoy drawing, this project was good for be because it showed me that drawing is not as daunting a task as it sometimes seems. The sheets that had step by step instructions were very helpful, and actually made it so that I could draw animals.

Teacher Creature Project:
Project Reflection:
To start the project, I searched for large images of all the pictures I would need. Then in Photoshop, I copy and pasted the images onto a an ocean background. After I had the majority of my background done, I had to make the teacher’s head fit onto a seahorse. I did this by making the teacher’s face slightly transparent so the pattern of the seahorses face can be seen. The hardest part of the project for me was trying to figure out how to make the teacher’s face fit on a seahorses. I persevered through this by experimenting with all the different ways to alter the image. I finally found out that I could make the face transparent. My favorite part of this project was when I started having a better understanding of Photoshop. I felt like I knew what I needed to do, and that definitely helped me continue with this project. Another favorite part was when I figured out what I was going to do. I could then just do the project without having to figure out what I was going to do. What I have learned about myself as an Animas student through this project is that as long as I ask for help, my questions will always be answered. What I have learned about myself as a digital artist through this project is that as long as I persevere, I will get my work done, and it will look good.
Tutorials:
- I changed the color of the eye by changing the hue.
- I used the paint brush tool to change the hair color.
- I warped the teeth.
- The picture is now inside the word.
Landscapes
Understanding Distance With Scale and Proportion:
In the landscape mini project we learned about what foreground, middle ground, and background. Foreground is the very front, it is normally the point of emphasis, and is very detailed with very vibrant colors. Middleground is the midpoint, there is some details, but not as much as the foreground. Background is the very back and has close to no details, and the colors are very muted. With this project we used scale and proportion. Scale is the size of an object in relation to another object. I had to make the images smaller or bigger to make sure they look farther away or not. Proportion is The relationship between objects with respect to size, number, and so on, including the relation between parts of a whole. I used proportion to make sure all the different elements looked like they belonged. The most useful tool I used in Photoshop was the free transform tool because it enabled me to make the images whatever size I needed them to be.
Name Project:
- I was supposed to go outside and take pictures of objects that resemble the letters in my name.
