Personal Connections and Adult World Connections:
2. What have you learned (skill, lesson, or knowledge) this year that will be most helpful for you in the future?
The exhibitions and POLs have been the most helpful to me because having these experiences has taught me to create a good presentation and be able to present it to a group of people. Evidence: An Exhibition Reflection
3. What project or projects have you done this year that have inspired you to want to learn more? Explain how you were inspired.
I was inspired by the sociology project because while I was researching, I can across statistics saying that LGBT teens are twice as likely to commit suicide, and that ninety percent of teens have heard or experienced negative comments about their sexuality or gender. Learning this has made me want to make sure I am doing as much as I can to help kids who are experiences negativity from school or at home. Evidence: GSA
4. How has your attitude toward learning changed this year?
I am now a lot more interested and engaged in my learning. The biggest reason for this is because the teachers care a lot about what they are teaching, and it has made me care about what I am learning. Evidence: Final Humanities Essay
5. What connections have you made this year between what you have learned in your classes and your own personal experiences outside of school?
I have made the connection between the sociology project and what I hear about LGBT teens outside of school. Evidence: Sociology Essay
6. How have your learning and experiences at AHS this year changed the way you see the world?

7. What work from this year would you like to look back on and remember when you are a graduating senior?
I would like to look back on my sociology project to see how my writing and art has evolved and improved over four years. Evidence: Sociology Mask, and Sociololy Essay
You as a Student and a Learner (Your Work and Your Work Habits):
1. What is the most important change that you have made as a learner this year?
My writing has greatly improved this year, I am now able to look at feedback and work from it. Evidence: Sociology Essay, Final Humanities Essay
2. How have you taken an active role in your education this year?
In Humanities, Digital Art, and Math I have made sure that my work is the best it can be. Unfortunately, I have not done this in Science, next I plan to make sure that I hold myself to the same standard in all my classes. Evidence: Final Humanities Essay
3. What piece of work that you’ve done this year are you proudest of? Why?
I am proudest of my sociology project because it was the project that I enjoyed the most, and I put the most effort into it. Evidence: Sociology Project
4. If you could go back and refine one piece of work this year, what piece of work would you refine and how would you refine it?
I would refine my water filter for the Design it Clean project. I wasn’t very interested in this project, so I just didn’t do any work, making my water filter completely useless. The only thing it filtered out was a little bit of mud. I am very disappointed in myself for not taking the initiative to do well on this project. Evidence: Design it Clean Project Picture
5. If you were the teacher, what comments would your teacher make about your work habits?
I would say that I am put a lot of effort into the projects I enjoy, and very little effort into the projects I don’t enjoy. Evidence: Design it Clean Project Picture.
6. What might you want next year’s teacher to know about your work habits?
Same as question 5.
7. What is the most difficult thing you have done this year? Why was it difficult, and how did you deal with that difficulty? The most difficult thing I did this year was say an announcement at the PEAK meeting. This was really hard because I don’t like talking to big crowds of people, and I had never done anything like that before. I dealt with the difficulty by reminding myself that it would only last about two minutes, and that it wasn’t a big deal.
8. How has group collaboration helped you as a student?
Group collaboration has helped me as a student by having multiple different kinds of people, and have everyone help with the work load. Evidence: Math Exhibition DP Update
Reflecting on Yourself and Our Model of Education (Project Based Learning and our Student Culture)
1. What would you say to an incoming 9th grader about how to succeed in project based learning?
I would tell them that even though in project based learning there is a certain standard that the teachers expect the to meet in the classroom, it they ever feel stressed about something, then they should talk to their teacher about it and get help. Evidence: Math Final
2. How have any of the habits of heart and mind helped you be successful as a student or person?
Evidence and refinement have both helped me to be a very successful student. Evidence has been helpful because I have learned that opinions should always be backed up by good evidence if I want people to take me seriously. Refinement has helped me because I have learned that it is extremely important to refine my work to make it the best it can be. Evidence: Brave New World Essay
3. How has a relationship with a faculty member helped you be more successful in school this year?
Colleen, Lauren, and Matt have all really helped me figure out how I will succeed in class, and in GSA. I am so happy that the three of them were able to teach me this year, and they are really the best teachers I have ever had. Evidence: My experience in class and GSA
4. How has the work in Advisory helped you grow or change as a student, as a friend, and as a citizen?
I did not have a great experience in Advisory this year. I didn’t connect with most of the students in my Advisory, I also really feel like I need a female advisor, and I didn’t have that this year. Evidence: My Advisory Experience
5. Project based learning is a different model than traditional models of education. Explain how Project based learning has influenced your learning and your production of work.
Project based learning has influenced my learning because it enables me to really understand what I am learning and why I am learning it. Math has especially influenced me this year because I am being taught topics that I will use in my adult life. Evidence: Math POW

I will collaborate with people more this semester. I will work with at least one person every week, and I will not work with the same person twice in order to make sure I am comfortable working with anyone.
